Obituary for Elmer Leon Bailey

Mr. Elmer Bailey of Maynardville passed away 5 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at U. T. Medical Center. He was a member of New Start Baptist Church, also, Glen Park Lodge #732 and Orak Shrine in Indiana. He served Union County as a County Commissioner and Road Commissioner representing the 3rd district for 26 years. Preceded in death by Kathleen Bailey; daughter: Brenda Kay Bailey; parents: Jim and Pearl Nicely Bailey; brother: Austin Bailey. Survivors: son: J. M. Bailey and wife: Nancy; sisters: Elsie Thomas, Barbara Ingle, June Hill and Jama Webb, all of Knoxville, grandsons: Allen Bailey and wife: Marty of New Jersey, Jason Bailey and wife: April, Maynardville, great-grandchildren: Allen Jr., Nicholas, Ashley and Jaxon Bailey, special niece: Debbie Sharp. He was Poppy to Nicholas and Bryson Sharp. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with masonic service at 8 p.m. conducted by J. C. Baker Lodge #720 F. & A.M. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Bob Eldridge, Rev. Richard Nicley officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:15 p.m. Saturday and proceed to Boruff Cemetery for interment at 1 p.m. Pallbearers: Jason Bailey, Brian Sharp, Jim Bailey, Wayne Lovelace, Matthew Lovelace, Nicholas Sharp. Honorary Pallbearers: Current and former Union County Commissioners. The family will be at the home of Deborah and Brian Sharp, 1021 Fox Hunter Road, Maynardville. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
