Elder Phillip Hoskins-age 73 of Knoxville, passed away February 21, 2015 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born March 21, 1941 in Middlesboro, KY. His parents were the late Ewing Grant and Hassie Hoskins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Walter Hoskins; and one sister, Treva Wilder. He was a long time resident of the Hutch Community in Bell County, KY. He was employed, for many years, by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Middlesboro, KY. He was proud to be a part of the Coca-Cola family and showed that pride through extreme loyalty. Through his employment he established many friendships that continued through his death. In 1981 he was honored by being named a Kentucky Colonel. He was also an ordained minister of the Primitive Baptist Church. He united with the Cannon Creek Primitive Baptist Church in 1967 and was ordained to the full work of the Gospel Ministry a few years later. He served as pastor of the London, Brownies Creek, Cannon Creek, and Rose Hill Primitive Baptist Churches. During his ministry he conducted many baptisms, marriages, and funerals. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dola Hoskins, Knoxville; a son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Twanna Hoskins, Douglasville, GA; three grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah, and Maddie Hoskins, Douglasville, GA; one brother, Don Hoskins (Jean), Talbott; two sisters, Nina Hurst , Wabash, IN, and Jeanette Gilreath, Morristown; three special friends, Larry Elliott, Pineville, KY, John Hunter, Knoxville, and Mike Tarbet, Knoxville; and a large number of nephews, nieces, church family, and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 25 at the Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville, TN with Elder Marty Hoskins, Elder Eugene Wilder officiating. Burial will follow immediately in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville. Pallbearers will be Andrew Hoskins, Larry Elliott, Elder Bill Taylor, Preston Smith, Elder Daniel Wood, Mike Tarbet, John Elliott, Bob Chapman. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
