Obituary for Wilma Jean Lay

Mrs. Wilma Jean Lay-age 83 of Maynardville, a precious lady received her heavenly wings Thursday morning, March 5, 2015 at her home while surrounded by her family. She was born March 28, 1931 to Robert (Bob) and Hazel (Evans) Hatfield. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years. She owned and operated Princess Beauty Shop in Union County for over 50 years. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Katherine Louise Fersner and Bobbie Sue Powell; brothers, Kenneth, Joe and David Hatfield; daughter, Janice Sexton and granddaughter, Kristi Cox. Survivors: husband, Johnny Lay; daughter, Sandra (Earl) Cox; step-daughters, Gail (Glenn) Odell, Brenda Lay; step-sons, Larry (Brenda) Lay, E. J. (Cathy) Lay. Brother: Doyle Edward (June) Hatfield. Grandchildren: Marla (Marty) Buckner, Toni (Tim) Brown, Chris (Kayla) Sexton, Shanta (Rodney) Hensley, Luci Gina (fiancée John Hale) Godfrey, Dusty (Brittni) Sexton; step-grandchildren: Johnny (Ashley) Lay, Dusty (Cindy) Lay, Daniel (Stretch) Donahue, Scott Tolliver, Chris (Laura) Tolliver, Glenn (Kelly) Lay, Lance Lay. Great-grandchildren: Paige (Steven) Hayes, Nathan Buckner, Maison Scates, Memphis Hensley, Brycen Brown, Dylan Sexton, Autumn White, Karmen Godfrey, Aubree Sexton, Konnor Sexton, Jerica Lay, Austin Lay, Alec Lay, Raley Tolliver, Addison Tolliver, Aiden Lay, Allie Lay, Presley Lay, Payton Keck, Emma Donahue; great-great-grandchildren: Jaxson Hayes, Coltin White and many very special nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Joe Nicely, Rev. John Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
