Obituary for Olta Jean Cook (Maples)

Mrs. Olta Jean (Maples) Cook-age 85 of Sharps Chapel, born February 19, 1932 left for paradise Sunday morning, September 3, 2017 at Physicians Regional Medical Center due to complications of a stroke. She was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and a 1951 graduate of Horace Maynard High School. Preceded in death by husband of 39 years, Walter Ollen Cook; parents, Jim and Etha Maples; sisters, Ova, Ollie and infant Dorothy; brothers, Foister, Ruble, Horace and Lonnie Maples.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Cook-Collins and Randy Collins; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to our cousin, David Monroe whom we are indebted to for all his wonderful help and kindness through the years; Pete Eastridge for his kind friendship and Tina Lester of Suncrest-you were God’s blessing during the emergency.

The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 with funeral services to follow at 7 P.M. Tuesday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Elder Toby Dykes officiating with music by Cassie and Katie Dykes. Interment 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, Oak Grove Cemetery, Sharps Chapel, Rev. Tim Sharp officiating. Family and friends will meet by 1 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home to go in the funeral procession. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
