Obituary for Judith Ann Thomas (Murphy)

Judith “Judi” Ann (Murphy) Thomas

Judi began her eternal life peacefully on November 20, 2015 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was comforted by her husband, daughters, and close family friend after a five month battle with uterine cancer.

Judi was born on April 1st, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Marion Pasquinzo and the late Robert Murphy Jr. She was nurtured by the late Yolanda Lorraine Murphy, She was preceded in death by her sister Maureen Murphy Dasaro, nephew Matthew Murphy, and dear friend Linda Pruess.

Judi had a smile that lit up the world, a laugh that could be heard from miles away, and a heart full of God’s love for all who crossed her path. Family was of the utmost importance to her. She enjoyed family meals together, playing scrabble on the holidays, shopping with her daughters, spending time with her nieces and nephews, sharing recipes, and cooking with her dearest friends. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandson. She was an amazing woman in all aspects of life; at home and at work. Judi was an incredible mentor, leader, and most importantly, beloved friend. She lifted people up during their trials. Judi was a mother to many and a friend to all.

Judi is survived by her Husband Michael Thomas; Daughters Ashley Webb (Chris Webb) and Melanie Thomas; Beloved Grandson, Coty Webb; Brothers Robert Murphy and wife Diane, and Patrick Murphy and wife Brenda; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Judi’s family would like to sincerely thank the exceptionally caring staff on the oncology floor of the UT Medical Center.
