Obituary for Avis Michael Hickman

Avis Michael Hickman-age 77 of Maynardville passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his home following a long illness while surrounded by his loving family. He was of the Baptist faith. He was born April 3, 1942 in East Prairie, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Army as a Private First Class in the 101st Airborne Division of the Screaming Eagles at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Preceded in death by parents, Hiram Joe and Emma Eileen Hickman; siblings, Edwin Kenny, David J. and Randy F. Hickman; Bonnie Ruth Hickman and Laura Dean Tipton.

Survivors: wife of 56 years, Virginia Smith Hickman; daughters, Sherri and Jeff Denton, Rhonda and John Dunn; Pamela and Marc Feiler; grandchildren, Tyler and Tiffany Denton, Paige Denton and Chloe Dunn; great-grandchild, Talynn Denton. Siblings, Joann Wolf, Brodie Hickman, Patti Wallace. Several nieces and nephews.

Military graveside service will be conducted 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard with Chaplain Frank Dudley officiating. Please meet at the cemetery for the service. Pallbearers: Tyler Denton, Jeff Denton, John Dunn, Cecil H. Butcher, III, Billy Ray Needham, Larry Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to the American Cancer Society, 871 N. Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, Tennessee 37909.
