Obituary for Bob Sexton
Bobby E. (Bob) Sexton-age 75 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 16, 2022 at Sacred Ground Hospice in Knoxville. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Bob was the owner/operator of Doug and Bob’s Body Shop in Maynardville for the past 47 years which was always a local gathering spot for neighbors and friends and where everyone was welcome. Bob’s garage was once voted the best in Union County and he always went the extra mile for his customers. He was an avid bass fisherman and loved Norris Lake along with other surrounding lakes. Bob served as president of the Rebel Bass Anglers Club for many years since its inception. Bob was a very humble person and had many lifelong friends. Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Blanche (Edmondson) Sexton; sister, Betty Kitts; brother, Doug Sexton; nephew, Jody Sexton.
Survivors: wife of 56 years, Patti (Gray) Sexton; daughter, Michella Blackburn and husband, Michael; granddaughter who was the joy of his life, Monroe Blackburn, all of Maynardville; one brother, Danny Sexton and wife, Rhonda of Maynardville; three sisters, Carolyn Sherritze and husband, Bill Hall of Knoxville; Vickie Walker and husband, Jerry Lynn of Sharps Chapel; Phyllis Elkins and husband, Marvin of Andersonville. Eight nieces and nephews, Susan, Ricky, Mark, Randy, Kevin, Jason, Tony and Renee along with a host of friends.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Saturday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Jason Walker, Rev. Josh Jones officiating with music by Janice Munsey, Eddie Smith and Jill Jones. Interment 2 p.m. Sunday, Big Barren Cemetery, Maynardville. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers: Eric Russell, Larry Henderson, Billy Joe Henderson, Ricky Kitts, Ralph Hackney, Steve Bean. Honorary Pallbearers: Wayne Ellison, Eddie Smith, Mike Williams, Wendell Padgett, Jerry Janeway, Jeff Davis. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
