Obituary for Christa Ursula Alford

Christa Ursula (Mueller) Alford - age 79 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 3, 2022 in her home surrounded by loved ones. Christa was born on January 15, 1943 in Stuttgart, Germany. From an early age she proved to be brave, adventurous and free spirited: climbing trees, going dancing, sneaking out, and marrying an American soldier. She and Paul Alford were married in Germany and eventually settled down in Maynardville, Tennessee. She raised 5 children while working in tobacco fields and later a meat shop. Over the years many friends and family members came to live with Paul and Christa at different times, always welcomed with love. Her deep faith in God was evident in every aspect of her life. With their Christian family, Paul and Christa helped start the Maynardville Church of Christ where she was a faithful member. Christa brought her family together around a table full of delicious food, a mix of German dishes and southern staples. To all that entered her home there was never a shortage of food, laughter, love, and faith. She owned and ran Affordable Carpets in Maynardville for 25+ years, befriending customers with her warmth and kindness. She traveled with Paul and later with her children and grandchildren, exploring the world and also relaxing on a cruise ship with a good book. She inspired everyone she met with her dedication and commitment to those she loved. May her legacy of strength, bravery and fierce love live on in them for generations to come.

She is preceded in death by her parents Kurt Mueller and Irmgard Mueller. Her husband Paul Alford. Her son Peter Alford. Her brother Wolfgang Mueller.
She is survived by her siblings Kurt Mueller, Manfred Mueller, Ingrid Gabsky, Renate Schwieger, Barbel Dingler.
