Obituary for Clifford Rene Woods Jr.

Clifford R. Woods, Jr.-age 86 of Speedwell, born February 14,1936 known as Jr. to his siblings and Woody to his friends, passed away on the evening of September 11,2022 from injuries incurred in a tragic automobile accident. Clifford was retired from the US Navy as a hospital corpsman, Chief Petty Officer. His favorite past time was surfing the internet for great deals of which he found many because everything was a great deal to him, he loved buying in bulk! He was always ready with a joke and a story to tell; he loved his family and talking politics to anyone who would listen.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford R. Woods Sr., Virgie O’Dell Woods, brothers, Carl Jerome, Gerald Ross and Stephen Foster Woods, son, James (Jabe) Woods, daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Woods Rovinski, wife, Marion Woods, grandsons, Clifford (Chipper) Woods and Douglas Wayne Rovinski.

He was survived by his sister, Wanda Cox Byerley of Maynardville, brothers, Paul Woods of Oregon, Harold Woods of Andersonville, James (Jim) Woods of Heiskell, sons, Clifford R. Woods, III of Knoxville, Charles (Chuck) Woods of Powell, Carl (Rick) Woods of Tuscaloosa, AL, Robert(Robbie) Woods of Francesville, IN, daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Brinkley of Knoxville, wife of 44 years and mother to his 7 children, Morna Hespeline of Allison Park, PA, a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clifford will have a full military graveside service 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022 at The East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920, Rev. James Woods officiating. Military honors by the U S Navy and Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Please meet at the cemetery chapel by 12:15 p.m. Monday. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
