The Almighty’s Mercy….
Doug’s Christmas Birthday Gift:
No more physical and mental pain!

There are many chapters on Doug…Many too many to mention. If he was your friend, you knew it and usually filled many notable lifelong memories. All by and by, he was a good soul with many, many friends. Of course, family came first when required.

Doug loved to hunt and fish as well as playing sports. He was one of the top drummers on the peninsula in his day. Class of 1975, Bethel Bruins Virginia State Football Champions and was instrumental in that game as well as the whole season and held several place-kicking state records which stood for many years. He cherished his teammates. They were not the biggest, but were hard and fast, with the heart of the bear on every second of play, thanks to Coach Koz.

Now he is with his mother, Vera and scores of other family members he grew up with. As one of his close friends stated: In God and Doug, we Trust! No better words can explain it…In a dog’s wink… Please no flowers, contributions may be made to Grainger County Humane Society or your local CSB Mental Health Facility.

So many memories I've spent the last few days trying to collect my thoughts...oh Dougie what a big heart you had. You Loved to hunt and fish! Once you delivered a piece of deer meat to my dad, his Uncle Johnnie, put it in his mailbox which Dad discovered this spoiled gift a few days later LOL. Growing up with a bunch of boys-Jodie, Gary, Doug and Dave-they teased me constantly thought once I'd be afraid of a green snake at Grandma Sorrell's boy did i surprise them. I used to babysit the Harden kids while Jerry and Vera worked nights and we always had a crazy time (since all of us were so close in age) made up stupid games like Try to Make you Laugh-remember the green beans in our nostrils Gary? Band practices in the garage and block party dances?
You were Always ready to lend a hand - open your big heart
Rest in Peace Dougie Aunt Marian and Uncle Jim
