Obituary for George Clayton Haynes

George Clayton Haynes-age 85 of Knoxville, born April 11, 1935 went to be with our Lord and Savior Sunday, December 13, 2020 at home with his wife and children at his side. George was a deacon and a longtime member of Emory Valley Baptist Church. He was a welder from 1973 till 2011 when a stroke stopped him from doing what he loved. He was a Godly man who was always faithful in prayer and reading his Bible. He loved to sing and praise God for all of his many blessings. He loved all of his family and his “Little Woman” that he cherished every day. They were married December 19, 1959, he said it was the luckiest day of his life that she agreed to marry him. George served in the U. S. Army as a coast draftsman. He was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Aggie Haynes; brother, Jacob Haynes.

Survived by wife of 61 years, Ruby Haynes; daughter, Beverly Pardue; son, Edward (Scarlet) Haynes; daughter, Sherri (Darren Cooke of Florida. Grandchildren, Megan, Kevin (Tori), Sara (Nick), Amanda, Adam (Jessica), Ian, Seth (Blair), Alexandria (Brennon) and Annie; great-grandchildren, Nora, Mabree, Ella and Hazel; brothers, O. L. (Doris) Haynes of Florida; Charlie (Imogene) Haynes of Knoxville. Several nieces and nephews.

There will be a call at your convenience 12 noon till 4 P.M. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Emory Valley Baptist Church, 6124 E. Emory Road, Knoxville with funeral service to follow at 4 P.M. Saturday, Rev. Richard Nicley officiating with music by Linda Nicley, Tulley and Imogene Widner. Interment 1:30 P.M. Sunday, December 20, 2020, Fort Sumpter Community Cemetery, Knoxville with military graveside service by Volunteer State Honor Guard. Please meet at the church by 12:45 P.M. Sunday to proceed to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to American Heart Association or a charity of your choice. We do ask you to wear a mask or face covering and observe social distancing. Pallbearers: Edward Haynes, Adam Haynes, Darren Cooke, Ian Cooke, Seth Cooke, Darrell Haynes.
