Obituary for George Paris Sharp

George Paris Sharp-age 74 of Sharps Chapel (Union County) went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of Powell Valley Electric Co-op. George was preceded in death by wife of 39 years, Mary Ruth (Harvey) Sharp; son, George Wayne Sharp. Parents, John and Rose (Shoffner) Sharp; brothers, Dave Sharp, Lee Bob Sharp; sisters, Polly Sheckles, Lela Mae Weaver, Linda Harrell, Faye Hicks and Sue Bailey. Father and mother-in-law, Robert and Mossie Harvey.

Survivors: Betty Dalton, his companion and best friend for the last 12 years; daughter, Tammie Carter and husband, Bryan; grandsons, Derek Sharp and Jonathan Sharp; granddaughters, Kylie Haywood (Garrison); Mallory Carter and Taryn Carter; great-grandchildren, Chance Sharp, Azara Haywood, Abigail Haywood; special unborn granddaughter, Aubree; brother, Don sharp and wife, Kitty; brothers-in-law, Jerry Charlie (Buck) Harvey; Robert Lee Harvey, Jr. and wife, Betty; sister-in-law, Joyce Sinard and husband, Wayne. The family would like to express a special thank you to all the wonderful staff members at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary. Funeral services 12 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2023, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Tim Sharp, Rev. Greg Sharp officiating with music by the Valley Boys. Interment will follow at Taylor’s Grove Cemetery, Sharps Chapel. Pallbearers: Clydas Hall, Luke Sharp, Elmo Smallwood, Pick Weaver, James Weaver, Roger Keller. Honorary Pallbearers: the rabbit hunting buddies, The Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department; other nephews, T. J. Harrell, Bob Keller, Danny Harrell along with all of his drop by friends who visited him often at his home (too numerous to name them all).
