George Odra Sweet-age 62 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord suddenly Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2022 at his home. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. He loved wood working in his own wood working shop and also loved hunting, especially archery. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Sweet; brothers, Lawrence, Jeff and Rome Sweet.

Survivors: loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Lisa Sweet; daughters, Cassie Hanna and Tracy Sweet; sons, George Daniel Sweet and wife, Ashley, Adam Sweet; five grandchildren, Koby Hanna, Ryland Bailey, Cheyanne Sweet, Tristen Stubblefield, Bristol Sweet; brother, Sam Sweet and wife, Pat; four sisters, Edith Brown and husband, Lincoln; Edna Peck, Evelyn Gent and husband, Charles; Louise Hipshire and husband, Paul. Father and mother-in-law, Albert and Debbie Lay; brothers-in-law, Donnie Lay; Danny Lay and wife, Christy; sisters-in-law, Teresa Sullender and husband, John; Lindsey Hickman and husband, Adam. Life-long best friend, Earl Presley. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Graveside service 2 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2022 at Big Barren Cemetery, Maynardville, Rev. Sam Sweet officiating with music by Edna Peck and Family. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday to go with the funeral procession. The register book may be signed Sunday and Monday morning at the funeral home.
