Ina C. Bates Smith-age 74 of Maynardville took her heavenly flight Tuesday, February 2, 2021 with family by her side. She was saved at an early age at Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church. Ina will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, very proud great-grandmother and a wonderful sister to her family that loved her very much. Preceded in death by husband of 28 years, John Smith; former husband, Ralph Tharp; parents, Earl and Opal Bates; brother, Clifton Bates; nephew, Shannon Bates.

Survived by loving son, Lionel (Lisa) Tharp; grandsons, Jake and Jared Tharp; special great-grandson, Cooper Tharp; step-son, Rev. Johnnie Ray (Katrina) Smith; Danny (Marty) Smith; step-grandsons, Justin Smith, Darren (Brittany) Relford; step-granddaughters, Kandace (Eli) Muncey, Kayla Smith, Kimberly Relford. Several step-great-grandchildren. Brothers, Denny (Cindy) Bates, Sheldon (Sharon) Bates, sisters, Velma McHone, Loretta (David) Staley, Kathryn (Gordon) Reynolds. Sister-in-law, Wanda Bates. Several very special nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Denny and Cindy Bates for the hospitality and love they have provided. The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Friday, February 5, 2021 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Friday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Johnnie Smith, Rev. Jimmy Davidson officiating with music by Mike Tipton, Justin Smith, Melody Whitson. Family and friends will meet by 12 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the funeral home to travel in procession to Dyer Cemetery, Luttrell for a 1 p.m. interment service, Rev. Bob Zavattieri officiating with music by Wayne Cole. Pallbearers: Jake Tharp, Jared Tharp, Weston Griffey, Taylor Bates, Brylan Bates, Eli Muncey, Wesley Reynolds, Brad Bates.
