Obituary for James Allen Buckner

James Allen Buckner-age 85 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home. He was born August 4, 1935 the son of the late Troy and Ruby (Cox) Buckner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susie Cooke Henderson; infant brother, Harold Buckner. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. Allen was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He worked at Dempster Brothers for 33 years until the plant closed. At that time, he began driving trucks delivering mobile homes across the U.S.A. Outside of work, he could be found working on the family farm. Allen also enjoyed his annual October pheasant hunting trip to Mitchell, South Dakota.

Survivors: son, Richard (Gwen) Buckner; granddaughters, Jennifer and Megan; long time love, Sondra Bailey. Brother, Glenn Buckner; sister, Carolyn (Alvin) Norris, all of Maynardville. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends. The family would like to express a special thanks to Covenant Hospice Staff who cared for him.

The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 with funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. Saturday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Hospice Chaplain Tom Rayford, Rev. Josh Jones officiating with music by the Cooke Family. Interment Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville. Pallbearers: Greg Buckner, Harold Cooke, Danny Cooke, David Cox, Trevor Jones, Rick Buckner. Honorary Pallbearers: Rodney Norris, Mike Cox, Gary Johnson, Doug Hickey. The body may also be viewed after 9 a.m. Saturday. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
