Obituary for James Earnest Loy Sr.

James E. Loy, Sr.-age 79 of Sevierville went to his heavenly home Sunday morning, October 30, 2022 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted family man. He enjoyed music and was affectionately known as The Man in Black when he sang. His beautiful voice and his quick wit will be missed by many. Preceded in death by parents, James and Ruby Loy; sisters, Baby Shirley; Mary Rudder; Hazel Branam and Teresa Martin.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Sarah Bays Loy. Through their 58-year marriage, they have shown the true meaning of devotion and unconditional love. He also leaves behind his three children, James Loy, Jr. (Sandra), Greg Loy (Jeannie), Jennifer Weaver (Glen); grandchildren, Matthew Loy (Julia); Haley Fowler (James), Megan Batman (Davon); Zachary Weaver, Brice Weaver; four great-grandchildren, Trenan, Aleyah, Finley and Everly. Brother, Danny Loy; special nephew, Shayn Loy. Special sister-in-law, Linda Harless and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express a special thank you to LeConte Medical Center, Covenant Hospice and Sevier County Rescue Squad. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022 with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. James E. Loy, Jr. officiating. Interment Big Barren Cemetery, Maynardville. Pallbearers: Matthew Loy, Shayn Loy, Zachary Weaver, Brice Weaver, Robert Bays, Lance Chandler. Honorary Pallbearer: James Fowler.
