Obituary for Katheryn Sharp Black

Katheryn Black-aged 94 of Maynardville passed away peacefully Thursday, April 7, 2022. Adored by everyone who knew her, the reach of her influence is immeasurable. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Levi Strauss & Co. She was preceded in death by parents, Thomas Raymon Sharp and Pearl Odell Sharp; sisters, Oneita Cooper, Canzada Corum, Ruby Cooper, Estell Rutherford and Violet Sharp; brothers, J. C., L. T. and Steve Sharp; nieces, Dossie Corum, June Alexander, Jewell Faust and Jaunita Helton; nephew, Billy Corum; son, David Lyons.

Those who will miss her love and devotion are too numerous to mention. She is survived by husband of 43 years, Jim Black; nieces, Bobbie Atkins, Shirley Malone, Caroline Bailey, Joan Gray and Lonetta Barnes. Daughter, Deliea Lyons; son, Dwight Rutherford; granddaughter, Delaina Rutherford Rhodes; great-grandson, Samuel Rhodes. Special thanks to her wonderful in-laws and to Bobbie and Shirley who were always her biggest support.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Saturday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Bobby Kitts, Rev. Edward Bardell officiating. Interment 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022, Pleasant Grove UMC Cemetery, Luttrell. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers: Blake Malone, Rodney Malone, Jr., Sam Rhodes, Rusty Clowers, John Ferguson, Patrick Faust. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
