Obituary for Maxie Raley Monroe

Maxie Raley Monroe of Knoxville went to be with Jesus Friday morning, December 16, 2022 at her home. Maxie was the oldest living member of Hubbs Grove Baptist Church and also attended Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church. She was a former employee of South Central Bell and later worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Garland C. (Jack) Monroe; son, Jackie Rhea Monroe; parents, Harley Isaac, Sr. and Dena Raley; sisters, Edith Kitts, Geneva Lay, Polly Dyer, Dorothy Raley, Evelyn Raley; brother, Raymond Lewis Raley.

Survivors: son, Greg Monroe; daughter, Vickie Monroe Lambert; granddaughter, Elizabeth Catte; brothers, Dewey Raley, H. I. Raley, Jr.; sisters, Betty Brooks, Christine Leach. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Graveside service and interment 12 noon Monday, December 19, 2022, Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville, Elder Daniel Wood officiating. Please meet at the cemetery by 11:45 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Hubbs Grove Baptist Church, 330 Hubbs Grove Road, Maynardville, TN 37807 or to Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church, 5529 North Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37918.
