Obituary for Polly Ann (Mallicoat) Buckner

Polly Ann (Mallicoat) Buckner-age 83 of Corryton, born September 15, 1938 gained her angel wings Sunday, April 17, 2022 at her home after a long battle with dementia. Polly was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Polly loved the Lord. She sang God’s praises most of her life with three lovely ladies: Opal, Cassie and Georgia. Polly always had a loving spirit and smile that could make anyone feel loved. Preceded in death by parents, Enos and Thelma (Goin) Mallicoat; husband, Maurice Buckner; son, Maurice Dale Buckner; sister, Dolly Jones.

Survivors: son, Marty (Carolyn) Buckner; daughter, Robin and Rick Kitts; sister, Shirley Mynatt; Polly’s fiancé, Robert (Bob) McDaniel. Six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. A host of other family and friends. The family would like to express a special thanks to Avalon Hospice and their staff.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Douglas Munsey, Rev. Lucas Perry officiating with music by Savannah Galyon and Natasha Wolfenbarger. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022, Dyer Cemetery, Powder Springs. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers: Joey Chamberlain, Steven Buckner, Blake Buckner, Aaron Mount, Keith Buckner, Rick Kitts. Honorary Pallbearers: Shawn Buckner, Micky Buckner, Billy Mynatt, Rev. Leonard Goin, Junior Jones, David Hickman. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
