Obituary for Rev. Steve Tharp

Rev. Steve Tharp-age 64 of Luttrell went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He lived his life doing his best to make the Lord a good soldier. He was a dedicated member of New Friendship Baptist Church and was a former pastor of Blue Springs Baptist Church and Ridgeview Baptist Church. He was employed at Patterson Brothers as a truck driver. He is preceded in death by parents, Harley Lloyd and Elsie Fern Tharp; sister, Kimberly Tharp.

He is survived by the love of his life of 41 years, Christine Tharp, mother-in-law, Mae Brogan; uncle, Leon Atkins; brother-in-law, Ronnie Brogan and Peaches; his brothers, Harley Lee Tharp, Burl (Kristi) Tharp; his sisters, Debbie (Albert) Lay, Kathy Miller. Nieces, Lindsey (Adam) Hickman, Shawna (Mathew) Shelton, Kristi (Scott) Mixon, Candace (Doug) Giles; nephews, Adam (Kim) Tharp, Brandon (Laura) Brogan, Danny (Christy) Lay. Several step and great nieces and nephews. Also his God given children, Amanda (David) Dyer, Julie (Tony) Ray, Jared (Emma) Vittetoe; grandchildren, Angel (fiancé Derek Sharp), Morgan Dyer, Kelsey Ray, Dakota (Little Man) Dyer, Maddie Dyer. Unborn great-granddaughter, Aubree Renea Sharp. Host of special friends that he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends and family 4-7 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Sunday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Bob Zavattieri, Rev. Leonard Goin officiating with music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicley. Interment 11 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 at Baker Cemetery, Luttrell. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers: Brandon Brogan, Ty Brogan, Ian Brogan, Jared Vittetoe, Adam Tharp, Danny Lay. Honorary Pallbearers: Joe Hickle, Roy Williams, Elmer Munsey, Brian Oaks, Matt Brogan and Dakota Dyer.
