Obituary for Wayne Crawford Sr.
Wayne Crawford, Sr.-age 77 of Maynardville born June 14, 1943 passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at U. T. Medical Center. Wayne was saved by Christ in his teenage years. He was called to be a deacon in 1998 and faithfully served for 7 years. He lived his religion and his belief until the day he was called home. Although no formal higher education, Wayne mastered many crafts and trades, from laying brick and pouring concrete to building houses. His greatest accomplishment was raising children and being a pillar of strength to his family. He was a retired employee of General Shale Brick with 30 years of service and while working there, he raised tobacco crops, cattle and a vegetable garden, also finding time to work as a meat cutter for many years. Wayne made sure his family never went without. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. The family would like to express a special thanks to Westley Vandergriff and his lovely wife or their loving kindness.
Wayne was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Dora (Munsey) Crawford, brothers, Troy and Judson Crawford, brother-in-law, Jerry Rosenbalm.
Survivors: his wife of 54 years, Mary (Buckner) Crawford; son, Wayne Crawford, Jr.; Wayne Crawford, III, Christopher Crawford and Jonathan Crawford; daughters, Tammy and Jennifer (Dee). Granddaughter, Kristie Crawford; special great-granddaughters, Araya and Autumn. Brothers and sisters, Scott (Jan) Crawford, Joann Roeglan, Roy (Peggy) Crawford, Jane (Vic) Carter, Mintie Rosenbaum, Jerry (Donna) Crawford, Glenda (Howard) Mynatt, sisters-n-law, Annabee Crawford and Louise Crawford; brothers-in-law, Charles (Judy) Buckner, Ralph (Libbie) Buckner, Jr. as well as many nieces and nephews he dearly loved.
A call of convenience will be held 10 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 with funeral service to follow at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Gabril Haynes officiating. Interment will follow at Yadon Cemetery, Maynardville. Pallbearers: Daniel Crawford, Roy Crawford, Cliff Crawford, Jerry Crawford, Terry Crawford, J. D. Buckner. Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Buckner, Jr., Joe Buckner and his other nephews.
