Obituary for Willie Ray "Bill" Lawson

Willie Ray (Bill) Lawson-age 71 of Luttrell, born May 17, 1949 in Luttrell went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 6, 2020 at Fort Sander’s Regional Medical Center. He leaves here waiting to meet Him at Heaven’s Gate. Ray loved the Lord, his family and country. He served in the United States Marine Corp in Viet Nam. He never saw a stranger, loved helping people and he will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Preceded in death by parents, Willie Lawson and Marie Lawson Tharrington, step-father, Skip Tharrington, sister, Janet Lawson Vick, brother, Darrell Lawson, nephew, Paul Vick.

Survivors: wife, Shelia Lawson; they were married for 50 years and were best friends; sons, Bill Lawson, Greg Lawson; grandchildren, Lakin Lawson, Amos Lawson, Savannah Lawson, Sam Lawson; sisters, Patsy Standford, Lori Gorman, Adrienne Morrell. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts along with a host of friends.

The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Thursday, July 9, 2020 with funeral service to follow at 7 P.M., Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Lee Standford, Rev. Danny Ray Phillips officiating with music by Debbie Buckner. Military graveside service and interment 10 A.M. Friday, July 10, 2020, Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville. Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard will present the military honors. Pallbearers: Patrick Laverty, Joey Laverty, Jamil Powell, Jason Standford, Jerry Lawson, Thomas Morrell. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home 9:15 A.M. Friday to go in the funeral procession.
