Obituary for Ima Ruth Lewis (Cooke)

Mrs. Ima Ruth Cooke “Granny” Lewis-age 81 of Maynardville went home to live with Jesus, August 16, 2014. She was a member of Hubbs Grove Baptist Church and had recently attended Fellowship Christian Church. Ima loved to help people anyway she could, especially visiting the nursing home on Sunday afternoons and fixing them treats and baked goods to eat. She loved to babysit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a wonderful and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, friend and all around “Granny” to many. She was a very gifted baker and cook having made thousands of stack cakes and loaves of sour dough bread; also, a talented pianist, seamstress, quilter and crocheter having been self-taught. Preceded in death by Father: Isaac Lee Cooke, founder of Cooke Mortuary, Mother: Nola Cooke Campbell; Sons: Gains Harrell Lewis, Jr., Timothy Lee Lewis; Son-in-law: Allen Jarvis. Survivors: her loving Husband: Rev. Harrell Lewis; Daughter: Patricia (Tish) Jarvis; Granddaughters: Lori and Ronnie Joe Clay; Misty and Damon Seal; Great-granddaughters: Kalee and Emily Clay, Halli and Layla Seal. Sisters: Mary Lee Vining and Ruby Jane Scherba; Sister-in-law: Trilla Fern Walker along with a multitude of friends and church families that she has known for years. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Monday, August 18, 2014 with funeral services following at 8 P.M. at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, with her nephews, Rev. Johnny Smith and Rev. Joe Norris officiating. Interment 11 A.M. Tuesday, Monroe Cemetery, Maynardville. Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville in charge.
