Obituary for Paul Patrick Merritt

Paul Patrick Merritt, Sr. age 71 of Luttrell went on to be with his Heavenly Father early Thursday morning August 21, 2014. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife of 52 years, Dollie June Beeler Merritt and his family. Paul was born and raised in Luttrell, TN. He was a Deacon at Mountain View Church of God. His life’s work included farming, logging, dairy man, steel fabricator, foreman at Tucker Steel, volunteer fire-fighter and owner/operator of Luttrell Construction Co., Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eula Mae Dukes Merritt; one infant son, Philip Harvey Merritt; one brother James Bruce Merritt; one sister, Shelma Merritt Martin. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Dollie June Beeler Merritt; three sons, Randall Merritt and wife Angie, Tony Merritt and wife Dixcee, and Paul Patrick Merritt, Jr.; two daughters, Angie Merritt Messer and husband Jamey; Julie Merritt Woods and husband Joe; eight grandchildren, Amy Merritt Campbell and her husband Justin, Jordan Merritt and his wife Morgan, Callie Merritt; Ashley and Haley Merritt; Ploomie, Zoee, and Maggie Messer; and one great-grandson, Liam Merritt; two step-grandchildren Hannah and Emma Woods. Brothers—Alvin Merritt; Junior Merritt and wife Cathy; sister, Wanda Moyers and husband Benny; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Receiving friends Saturday August 23, 2014 from 3:00-7:00pm at Union County High School with funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Glen Beeler, Rev. Paul Thomas Hughes and Rev. Lewis Beeler officiating. He will be eulogized by Eddie Teems and Marty Gibbs. Internment on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 3:00pm at Hickle Cemetery, Luttrell, officiated by Rev. Jerry Savage and Mr. Robert Province. Pallbearers: Nephews—Ricky Merritt, Johnny Merritt, Mike Moyers, Kevin Merritt, Jay Merritt, and Chad Merritt; Flower Bearer—Madison Cumbie. Honorary Pallbearers: Nephews—Barry Beeler, Todd Beeler, Lasador Wilson, Dadrian Wilson, Marty Gibbs, Jatasey Gibbs, and Cory Beeler; and close work friends—Dono Butler, Ray Lett, L.E. Savage, Roy Oglesby, Fred Ballard, Kevin Moody, Steve Hall, Ray Hall, Eddie Ellis, John Mayes, Jerry Savage, Sam Bell, Mark Rouse, and Rick Burnett. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the employees and staff of Willow Ridge Healthcare. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
