Obituary for Joe Leslie Lay Sr.

Mr. Joe Leslie Lay, Sr.-age 71 of Washburn passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015. He was a member of Powder Springs Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Lamer and Viola (Helton) Lay; sister, Shirley Vick; brothers, John, Jim and Homer Lay. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Lena Williams Lay; daughter, Sheila Lay Capps; son, Leslie (Kelly) Lay; granddaughter, MaKensey Lay; grandsons, Austin Lay, Jacob (Ashley) Capps, Logan Capps. Sisters: Betty (Bill) Acuff, Helen (Jimmy) Smith; brothers, Albert (Debbie) Lay, Ronnie (Carol) Lay along with a host of nieces and nephews. The family will friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 with funeral services following at 8 p.m., Rev. Steve Williams, Rev. Gary Beeler, Rev. Darrell Williams officiating with music by Tammy Nicely, Tyler Clay and Chuck Huskey. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home 10 a.m. Thursday to go in procession for an 11 a.m. interment at Fairview Cemetery, Tater Valley Road, Luttrell. Pallbearers: Jacob Capps, Logan Capps, Austin Lay, MaKensey Lay, Stacy Williams, Roy Williams, Jr., Carroll Carmon, Danny Lay. Honorary Pallbearers: Jason Brogan, Adam Wolfenbarger, Von Williams, Chris Bolden. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
