Lovenia Terry Edde-age 85 of Rutledge died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Ft. Sander’s Regional Medical Center. She was born October 22, 1929 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a native of Winfield, Tennessee and the daughter of the late, Maynard and Viva Terry. Also preceded in death by twin sister, Delores Terry Roark; brother-in-law, Eugene Mynatt; nephew, Dennis Mynatt.
In 1950, she married Uriel William Edde, Jr. Together, in 1959, they moved to Rutledge to open Edde Chevrolet. She worked at Magnavox for 18 months before joining her husband in the family business. Over the years, Lovenia played an integral part in the successful management of the dealership. She was a member of Rutledge Baptist Church in Rutledge, Tennessee. She was a member of the Lioness Club, The Red Hat Society, Women’s Club and Golden Girls. She also participated in the Senior Olympics.
Mrs. Edde enjoyed traveling and had been to Europe, the Caribbean, Egypt and much of the United States. She was an active golfer who enjoyed playing the game with her friends and family.
Mrs. Edde had an avid love for cooking and often shared her culinary talents with friends and family. It wasn’t uncommon to find her kitchen filled with her children’s friends who had discovered her hospitality. She was welcoming, loving and thoughtful and often extended her caring nature to those in need. Her good deeds will be carried on by her loving family, in whom she is very proud.
She is survived by her husband, Uriel Edde, Jr.; her son, Uriel Edde, III and wife, Tammy, all of Rutledge; daughters, Martha Edde of Johnson City, Tennessee and Cynthia Humphries and husband, David of Foley, Alabama. Grandchildren include, Tonya Gebhart and Tommy; Misti Humphries of Foley, Alabama; Kristina Edde, Jenna Edde and Tanner Edde of Rutledge and Laura Elizabeth Adams, Johnson City, Tennessee.
Great-grandchildren include Zach Gebhart, Ryan Gebhart, Heather Goode, Marcus Robinson of Foley, Alabama; Laykin Gabriella Rice of Rutledge; one sister, Alma (Terry) Mynatt of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one brother-in-law, George Roark of Oneida, Tennessee. Nieces, Beverly Roark (Trebby) Hicks and Susan Roark (Anthony) Overton of Oneida; Lisa Roark (Ronnie) Baggett of Kingston; nephews, Terry (Mary Ann) Roark of Oneida; Alan (Peggy) Mynatt of Cleveland, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Wednesday August 19, 2015 with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m., Rutledge Baptist Church, Rutledge, Tennessee, with Rev. Chandler Vinson officiating. Music by the Rutledge Baptist Church Choir. Graveside service and interment 1 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015, Ross Cemetery, Winfield, Tennessee with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Family and friends will meet 12 Noon Thursday at Jones and Son Funeral Home, 20059 Alberta St., Oneida, Tennessee to proceed to the cemetery in procession. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
