Alonzo "Lonnie"  Bates
Alonzo (Lonnie) Bates- age 87 of Powder Springs went home to be with his Heavenly Father Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016 at U. T. Medical Center. Lonnie was a faithful member of Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Neva (Tootsie Hunley) Bates; son, Harold Bates; parents, Joe and Lula Bates; sisters, Beulah McDaniel, Jewel Epperson, Laurleela McDaniel, Virgie Acuff, Hazel Foust; brothers, Reuben, Earl and Virgil Bates.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Renee’ and Steve Dail; granddaughter, Hannah Dail; daughter-in-law, Joyce Bates; many loving nieces, nephews and all his church family at Johnson’s Chapel. Special thanks to friends and neighbors, Bob and Janice Pendergrass, Robert and Barbara Williams, Steve and Almeda Lewis.

Funeral services 11 A.M. Saturday, July 2, 2016, Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Rev. Greg Hurst, Minister Steve Lewis officiating with music by the Johnson’s Chapel Church Choir. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will follow at Doyle Wayne Needham Cemetery, Powder Springs. Pallbearers: Hannah Dail, Bob Pendergrass, Robert Williams, Con Hunley, Ivan Capps, Lee Ed Hurst, Lionel Tharpe, Denny Bates; Honorary Pallbearers: Curly Bates, Stan Dail, Ty and Braxton Hurst along with the Deacons of Johnson's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
